Take A Hike! Literally :-)

| Adults

If you feel the great outdoors is calling your name - then we have just the group for you! Do you like to get outside, take a hike (or walk), and just...breathe? Don't like to hike alone? Well then, be sure to join the BPC Hiking Group for some outside time during what may arguably be the best time in New England - autumn! We would love to have you join us for any one of the upcoming hiking opportunities. Be sure to RSVP and reach out to each contact for additional information.

Saturday, September 17: Meet at 10:00 am at  Joppa Hill in Bedford, NH (meet at the Joppa Hill gate near farm stand). Parking is available near the trailhead. This hike will be led by Deacon Belinda King  who is looking forward to sharing her love of the Educational Farm at Joppa Hill. Included will be a quick tour and questions and answers about volunteer opportunities at the Farm as well as an introduction to the Farm and all it has to offer year-round. She will then lead the group on a short trail walk on the Loop Trail - a relatively easy hike with a few hills to get the blood flowing.  Complete hiking time is an average of 20-30 minutes. Bring a few dollars and stop at the Joppa Hill Farm Stand at the end of the hike (hours of operation may change). Plan on a total of 1.5 hours. Wear sturdy hiking shoes/boots, bring water, and bug repellent. Click here to RSVP and for any questions, contact Belinda King.

Sunday, October 23: (Rain date of Sunday, October 30) With Joppa Hill under your belt, be sure to join Marcia Morgan at Skatutakee and Thumbs Mountains in Hancock, NH.  This trail is a moderately challenging 5-mile loop hike with 859 feet of elevation gain through some beautiful forests with foliage views at the top. Approximate hiking time is estimated at 3 hours at a leisurely pace with stops. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. For those who would like to carpool or caravan, meet at 11:30 am at the church parking lot, or at 12:30 pm at the Harris Center main parking lot. Saturday, November 12:  Meet at the church parking lot at 10:00 am for this hike and plan to carpool as parking at the trailhead is limited. Join us for this local hike at the Florence M. Tarr Wildlife Sanctuary that traverses both towns of Bedford and Goffstown, NH. With trailheads located at 83 Joppa Hill Road, this beautiful 5-mile hike will take an estimate of 3 hours at a moderate walking pace with a few up and down hills. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. Long-time Bedford resident Florence Tarr loved the outdoors and Bedford, NH and wanted to leave behind a legacy of the great outdoors. The Sanctuary is managed by the Piscataqua Land Conservancy (PLC), and is the result of a partnership between the PLC and the Bedford Land Trust.
