The Freese Brothers Big Band has been entertaining audiences throughout New England since 1982. Now in its 45th year, the band performs a dynamic mix of big band classics and arrangements of standard tunes from The Great American Songbook.
You’ll hear selections from the Count, the King, the Duke, the Chairman, and the Sentimental Gentleman of Swing (that’s Basie, Goodman, Ellington, Sinatra and Dorsey!). In addition, you’ll hear popular contemporary hits arranged and performed in the big band style.

From the Duke, the Count, and the King to the Chairman and the First Lady
of Jazz, the 18-piece Freese Brothers Big Band has kept popular dancing
and concert tunes of the Swing Era alive in New Hampshire for 45 years –
offering audiences a great time for a great cause.
The Concord, NH-based Freese Brothers Big Band is in its 45th year of
keeping the sounds of swing and classic Big Band music alive by
entertaining concert and dance audiences throughout the region and
raising scholarship funds for a new generation of talented musicians.
The band is inspired by the musical enthusiasm and community spirit of its
founders, Jack, Bill, George and Courtland Freese. Members volunteer
their time and talent and donate band performance fees to the Freese
Brothers Big Band Memorial Scholarship Fund, which has awarded over
$110,000 in scholarships to student musicians.
The band offers a lively program that incorporates the classic sounds of
Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Ella
Fitzgerald, the Dorsey Brothers and Glenn Miller, along with contemporary
tunes specially arranged for Big Band performances.
Dancers love our lively mix of Swing classics and contemporary tunes at
gala fundraisers, memorable New Year’s Eve celebrations and joyous
weddings. Some kick up their heals on the grass at scenic bandstand or in
the aisles at theater performances throughout New Hampshire.
The Freese Brothers Big Band is also an award winning philanthropic organization.
Members volunteer their time and talent in support of the “Freese Brothers Big Band
Memorial Scholarship Fund.” As a registered 501-C3 non-profit charitable organization,
all proceeds from our performance fees are used to help talented music students from
New Hampshire improve their music skills by sending them to summer music
programs. To date, the fund has awarded over $125,000 in scholarships to deserving,
young musicians from all over the state.Volunteer NH recognized the band’s contributions to the state and the next generation
of musicians with the 2021 Volunteer Champion Award, citing the band for “exemplary
contributions to volunteerism and to the betterment of life in New Hampshire.”
