Ways to Give

From Your Income

You can sign up HERE to make a one-time gift or recurring gift of any amount from your income or savings.

Below we outline other tax-efficient ways to give. Please note this is not tax advice, and you should speak with a qualified tax professional before proceeding.

From Your IRA

If you are over age 70.5, you can give up to $100,000 from your IRA to a charity such as BPC. The withdrawal will not be taxed to you (or deducted by you) but it WILL be counted as part or all of your required minimum distribution for the year, which may reduce your taxable income. Consult with your tax advisor on this option. You can mail a check from your IRA to Bedford Presbyterian Church at 4 Church Rd, Bedford, NH 03110. Alternatively, you can transfer the funds directly to our church bank account. Contact finance@bedfordpresbyterian.org for details.

From Your Brokerage Account

You can donate appreciated stock to Bedford Presbyterian Church, avoiding the capital gains tax on the donated shares. As long as you have held them for more than a year, you can deduct the fair market value as of the date of donation. Consult with your tax advisor on this option. Contact finance@bedfordpresbyterian.org for instructions.

From Your IRA/401(k)/TSP or 403(b)

You can make Bedford Presbyterian Church a partial or complete beneficiary of your IRA, 401K, TSP or 403(b) account. Beneficiary designations can be made while you are alive to allocate the funds upon your death to any beneficiaries. IRAs and employer-sponsored retirement accounts are ideal to fund these bequests because the withdrawal is income-tax free to Bedford Presbyterian Church; Bedford Presbyterian Church receives the funds within days after your death; and there are very low, if any, fees associated with the transfer. In addition, your estate will receive a deduction for the transfer at fair market value. To update your beneficiaries, request a Change of Beneficiary form from the financial institution that holds the assets, and choose the percentages to leave to loved ones and charities such as Bedford Presbyterian Church. The tax ID for Bedford Presbyterian Church is: 02-6005842.
