At the Ageless Wonders
This past Tuesday, I had the privilege of seeing some old friends – Ray Bellemore (Vice President of the Bedford Lions Club) and Ernie Henrichon (a member of our congregation who serves as the Treasurer of the Bedford Lions Club). Several years ago, when we were working to start the Bedford Community Food Pantry, both Ray and Ernie played a crucial role in the process. For those of you who don’t know, the Food Pantry is housed at our church but is actually a service of the Bedford Lions Club. This was done in an effort to make the pantry an effort of the whole Bedford community and not have it be just something that we sponsor as a church.
In addition to their regular support of the food pantry, the Lions Club has typically offered some meals to the community throughout the year. THIS year, instead of doing those meals, the Lions Club decided to offer a financial gift in support of BPC’s Ageless Wonders ministry. For those of you who don’t know, the Ageless Wonders is a monthly gathering of “chronologically gifted” people who eat a meal together and enjoy some fun activities. This ministry to the community was dreamed up and brought to fruition through the efforts of our own Church Administrator, Michelle Jones. Michelle has poured her heart and soul into these monthly gatherings and it shows!
When the Lions Club learned about the Ageless Wonders gatherings, they decided to make a big donation to keep the Ageless Wonders moving forward into 2024. Their donation, in the form of a $4,000 check, will support the Ageless Wonders for about five months’ worth of meals and programming. When Michelle and I learned of this gift, we were bowled over! What wonderful generosity from the Lions Club, one of our wonderful community partners!
Thank you to the Bedford Lions Club and to Michelle (as well as members of the BPC Deacons and others) for making the Ageless Wonders such a gift to our community!
Grace and Peace,
John
