As of this coming Sunday, May 18, it will have been one year since we officially celebrated the 275th Anniversary of Bedford Presbyterian Church. Last May 19, with great rejoicing and thanksgiving, we offered praise to God for our milestone anniversary and the great legacy of faith that has been given to us by those who came before us.

As part of our 275th anniversary celebration, we offered a gift to future generations. Our goal was $275,000 for a solar panel array and HVAC upgrades, and through your tremendous generosity and a legacy gift from the estate of longtime member June Ellison, our goal has become a reality.

This coming Sunday – a year (minus one day) since our big celebration – we will dedicate our new solar panel array. The amount of electricity it produces is pretty shocking (pardon the pun!). Imagine running 750 100-watt lightbulbs day and night for a year, or running 100 loads of laundry daily for a week. This is how much electricity our panels are producing – providing clean energy for our church facility during the day and sending the extra energy we produce out onto the wider electrical grid (providing some financial benefits for the church).

I am so thankful and excited, and I know I’m not the only one. This is a really big deal for us!

But there is one more thing – a slightly smaller deal, but something that was really sweet – that I want to highlight this week.

About a month ago – right after Easter – the church staff arrived to work one day and found these lovely little plants, along with a note from an anonymous person. The note had a scripture passage, encouraging each staff member to take a plant as a gift. Mine is sitting on the windowsill in my office. And then, a few weeks later, this amazing snack basket appeared in the copy room, again, with an anonymous note and a scripture passage. And then, an additional gift of some wrapped packages arrived with devotional journals, pens, and a goodie bag. And it has all been anonymous.

So, if you happen to know the person (or are the person) who has been so anonymously sweet to the church staff, please know how thankful we are. We would love to thank you, in person, but if it isn’t possible, just know how thankful we are.

Dear Bedford Presbyterian Church, you are a blessing to Christ’s church and to our community.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Grace and Peace,

John
