This week, as I write to you, there are people who are either going above-and-beyond or are getting ready to do so.
This week, a small team of people from Bedford Presbyterian Church are up in Farmington, Maine, doing some much-needed winterizing of several homes, making them livable before cold temperatures arise.
This week, members of our congregation are delivering food from the Bedford Community Food Pantry to local schools so that hungry young people will have food to eat over the upcoming weekend. Also, preparations are being made to celebrate two of the Food Pantry’s key volunteers – Jason and Kat Piracini – at this year’s Good Samaritan Awards.
This week, results are being collected for our ongoing “Good Futures” initiative – studying who we are, as a congregation, and preparing us for the good future that God has prepared for us.
This week, members of our Neighborhood Support Team continued to coordinate childcare, immigration legal services, and job prospects for the mother of our Afghan family and also met – as a group – with a therapist from Bright Leaf Counseling to process the many emotional ups and downs of our journey with the Safis.
This week, preparations are underway for the Christmas Musical – recruiting band members and rehearsing the cast.
This week, preparations are being made for the Deacons’ annual Thanksgiving Gift Card ministry – providing $100 in the form of a Market Basket Gift Card to approximately 160 households and many members of our church community will be contributing to this effort.
This week, permits were filed with the Town of Bedford to cover the Living Nativity on December 20 at 4 PM. This includes a paid police detail to help with traffic. BPC is proud to offer this outreach, once again, to the whole community and we are proud to support this effort by bringing back our “Creche and Critters Club.”
This week, members of our Youth Group are excited to welcome our whole church to an intergenerational Game Night in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, October 4, at 5 PM.
This week, preparations are being made to welcome the Wolff Sisters to our Meetinghouse Concert Series on October 16. Get your tickets now!
This coming week, the Session will be taking up establishing a new staff position at Bedford Presbyterian, focusing on Children, Youth, and Community. We want to extend our welcome in specific ways by placing a priority on Children, Youth, their families, and the wider community.
And this week, our Nominating Committee will be meeting to plan for recruiting a new class of Elders and Deacons for the coming year. . .
It’s a LOT, but we’re only scratching the surface.
I am so thankful for the MANY ways that so many of you go above-and-beyond for your church, for this community, and especially for the God who calls each and every one of us to go above and beyond, in faith.
Thank you!
See you in church!
Grace and Peace,
John
