Break Out the Orange Traffic Cones and Pardon our Progress

Mar 28, 2025 | Weekly Word

Having lived within an hour of Boston for the past eleven years, I have experienced a few Boston rush hours. It can get kind of crazy down there! But, crazy traffic congestion is not limited to the Northeast. Back home in Georgia, people know to avoid certain highways around Atlanta at certain times of the day. For years, whenever my dad experiences bad traffic anywhere in the country, he will usually declare, “Mercy! It’s getting as bad as Atlanta!”

While our church parking lot is not normally known for traffic jams, there ARE some times during the week in which our parking lot has a LOT of cars flowing in and out: Sundays (of course!), at least one Tuesday morning a month, Thursday mornings and evenings, and Saturday mornings. For the most part, people who use our parking lot are respectful and safe, but every once in a while, you might hear someone declare, “Whew! It’s getting as bad as Atlanta out there!”

THIS COMING WEEK, we will have a different traffic pattern in and out of our church parking lot – for a wonderful reason!

Revision Energy will be laying the groundwork (literally!) for our solar panel array in the church’s backyard. There will be times this week (probably on Tuesday and Wednesday) when a trench will be dug across the parking lot – from the backyard to the church building. This trench will house essential cabling that will bring electricity from the solar panels into the building.

We are requesting that any and all people driving into the church parking lot this coming week pay attention to any signage, cones, caution tape, or people directing traffic so that we can keep everyone safe!

I know that it will be a minor inconvenience, BUT I am hopeful that the benefits will outweigh any inconvenience in the long run.

We are seeking to care for the gift of God’s creation in deep and lasting ways and are hoping that folks will pardon our progress in the process.

See you in church!

Grace and Peace,

John
