Around four years ago, the Session of Bedford Presbyterian Church put together a job description for a new staff role: Director of Communications. At the time we were discussing this opportunity to expand our ministry of communications within the church and beyond the church, one member of Session came to me and said that she would be interested in applying for this role.
Beth Evarts has served as BPC’s Director of Communications since 2021. In that time, she has transformed our online presence by overseeing the rebuilding of our website, expanding social media engagement, creating attractive and clear Hilltop Crier newsletters, and overseeing the writing and printing of stewardship materials each fall. But that’s not all. . .
She has. . .
- Worked with her connections in the Town of Bedford and BCTV to ensure the weekly broadcast of our worship services (we are the only church in Bedford that does this!).
- Supported committees and other groups get the word out about their events.
- Helped us celebrate our 275th Anniversary by going through the lengthy process of seeking approval for and installing banners on utility poles around town, raising our church’s profile.
- Coordinated communications around our “Bright Hope for Tomorrow” Energy Sustainability Campaign and been a big supporter of this project, working with the Green Team and others.
- Coordinated communications with local media, in recent months, for the Neighborhood Support Team that continues to support our Afghan Family.
In addition, she has. . .
- Been an incredible colleague and resource in the church office – redesigning and printing bulletins, becoming a master of the Breeze church database platform, helped with quarterly reporting of contributions, served as a right-hand-woman to Michelle Jones, and been an excellent sounding board and support for me. . . The list could go on and on. . .
Last month, Beth notified me that this season of her life working for BPC would be drawing to a close. Her last day is June 30. She isn’t moving away and will retain her church membership, but she has shared that she is ready to seek some new vocational opportunities. We know that she will do great things!
Working with Beth has been a true blessing, and she will be missed.
We will be recognizing Beth and celebrating her ministry among us on Sunday, June 15, in worship and during Coffee Hour.
If you would like to offer Beth a note or gift of thanks, please send them or bring them to the church office (4 Church Road, Bedford, NH 03110) before June 15.
We are so thankful to Beth and trust that our congregation will make their gratitude known. . .
Grace and Peace,
John
